Fun Pictures

This is just a fun page. Some of the photos will be of my own dogs or of the puppies which are for sale or have been in the past.  I thought you might get a kick out of them!

The rewards of dog breeding are quite evident... you get a tremendous amount of unconditional love "on demand" and you get to spend a good portion of your life playing with puppies!  One lesser known negative of this job is the tragic reality that not every puppy is viable and not every puppy can be saved regardless of the amount of time, energy, and money employed to save a pup.  Add to that your desire to see the puppy live and the heartache if you're not successful and you have a very strong case for getting out of the business all together.
I always struggle with the question of "why?"  Why is this puppy going to die?  Why can't I save this puppy?  Why isn't he or she responding to previously successful treatments?

Occasionally I am able to ask a different "why?"  "Why did this puppy beat the odds and make it?"  These pictures show the answer to that question in the case of my darling Sock.  Sock was the runt in a litter of 5 poochis (1/2 poodle and 1/2 chihuahua).  He weighed in at just 2 oz. at birth and struggled greatly for the first two months of his life.  He has grown up healthy and frisky and fluffly and recently, at 10 months of age, went to live with a group of 20 adults who have an incredible amount of love and time to devote to this little 2 1/2 lb. ball of fur! Extraordinary people with an extraordinary little dog... why isn't life always this simple?!

Cie Cie Maria's new mom and dad were lucky to live close enough that they came to visit her a couple of times! They were here when Glory's puppies were just shy of six weeks and Ceja's puppies has just turned five weeks old. They took these two adorable photos as well as the great shot of "Charlie Chihuahua" featured on my Sold Puppies page. Thanks K.C. and Gretchen for the wonderful puppy shots!

Gretchen cracks me up when she calls this pile of puppies a "hog pile". In the left hand picture, Tuxedo is just too cool to get involved in the hog pile!  In the right hand picture, apparently all the hard playing was just too much for baby Sasha. She took advantage of Sir Bentley's soft rear end and caught a little "cat" nap!

In this set of photos:  I sometimes think that my dogs are going to find the same things irresistible that I do. I saw this little dress and was just sure that darling Mirabelle would love it as much as me. Wow, was I wrong! She hated it and nothing we did or said made her change her mind.  She is 4 months old and, as you can see in picture 2, her body will have to grow into her ears!  Even my Jack Russell Terrier, Oliver, couldn't comfort her (picture 3) and in picture 4 she seems to say, "Please take it off". And so, off it came... probably never to be worn again! The final photo shows her "whispering" to a sleeping Lily that "pink is not her color"!

I spend countless hours trying to set up "perfect" shots of the puppies which I offer for sale.  I strive to have their personalities show through the photos which I take.  Unfortunately, I often
fall short.  One morning at
6 am I peeked in the puppy pen and couldn't resist taking this photo!
